Beautiful weather wouldn't you say....

Being based in Southern California definitely has its perks.  This weekend we had our first beautiful weekend of the year.  Temperatures were in the 80’s, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and we took advantage of it.

The dogs were running around and when it got too hot for them they cooled off by hiding in the shade provided by one of ADVANTEK’s GoneGreen dog houses, THE LODGE.
We were running around, and when it got too hot WE cooled off by pouring some margaritas.  The secret recipe is as follows.
2 ounces of lime juice
½ ounce of Grand Marnier
2 ounces of Tequila Cuervo 1800
Lots of ice, stir and serve in a salted glass.

We also had the ADVANTEK Swinging Siesta Hammock set up, and took advantage of that for a nice mid-day snooze.

Of course what sunny backyard day is complete without grilling?  As the sun was dropping lower we threw some steaks onto the grill.
Making a perfect steak is about the simplest thing you can imagine, which is why it’s amazing that so many people screw it up.

All you need is some salt, some pepper, and a good hot grill.  Once you have the grill going wait until it’s as hot as it will get.  Take the steaks (salt and peppered to taste) and put them on the grill.  Give it two minutes, then flip and wait another two minutes.  This will sear the outside and lock in all the flavor and juiciness.  Once you’ve got a good sear on all sides, lower the heat down to the lowest setting and let it sit.  Occasionally flip the steak so it’s evenly cooked throughout.  It should take about 8-15 minutes after the initial sear, depending on how well done you like your steak.
Combine with some grilled veggies, some garlic toast, and either mashed or baked potatoes and you’re set.
Serve with a robust red wine, outdoors, with some music and the sound of one of ADVANTEK’s Waterfalls, for maximum enjoyment.

(Sorry everyone, we already gave away the fountain.  But we have plenty more if you want one!)
HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!
